Teambuilding

The Teamward Bound Center enables your people to uncover and discover their abilities in effective group operations and outdoor problem solving activities. They will be able to examine their own reactions and responses in in new situations and they experience the elements of teamwork.

Overcoming challenges, taking risks, interacting, coming together, developing leadership skills, stimulating open and honest communication, breaking down inhabitions and just having fun are the components that develop team cohesion and comradery. Participants achieve more than they ever dreamed possible. The "WE CAN DO IT" attitude prevails within and outside the work environment.

The Teamward Bound Center is also perfect for youth groups and church retreats. An activity consultant to organize and lead the initiatives of your participants is available on request. For further information, please contact the Sales Department at 979-345-7905.

The games and activities at Columbia Lakes Resort Hotel are similar to a format that developed by Project Adventure Inc., a non-profit educational corporation. This adventure approach to learning strives for the following goals.

1.) To Increase the Participants' Sense of Personal Confidence:

The aim of many activities is to allow people to view themselves as increasingly capable and competent.  By attempting a graduated series of activities which involve physical or emotional risk, and succeeding (or sometimes failing) in a suppotive group atmosphere tends to encourage participation.

2.) To Increase Mutual Support Within a Group:

The assumption is that anyone who conscientiously tries should be respected. Success and failure are less important that effort. In many cases, the success or failure of a group depends on the effort of the members. A cooperative, supportive atmosphere tends to encourage participation.

3.) To Develop an Increased Level of Agility and Physical Coordination:

A number of exercises and games entail the use of balance and smooth flowing movement. Balance and coordinated movement form the basis for many physical activities, ranging from dancing to track and football. People who perceive themselves as physically awkward often generates a feeling of personal worth well beyond the tangible accomplishment.

4.) To Develop an Increased Joy in One's Physical Self and in Being with Others:

One of the criteria used in assessing various activities is that it must have an element of fun in it. Instructors are not solemnly engaged in building confidence, social cohesion and agility. Just as people approaching new situations may be anxious and even fearful, so they should they experience joy, laughter and anticipation.
